Lively is a Google's failed venture. It seems that Google wanted to raid the only place where it seemed had never been: animated virtual reality at IM.
Anyway, if you're bored of chats in which there are only text messages, try Google Lively, where you can chat with users around the world in three-dimensional rooms. Lively is an interesting way to "buy" a new life and it is another source that feeds and energizes the web and social networks. Also, Lively is a social network by itself, built around the concept that each user creates his/her personal three-dimensional avatar and virtual room(s) which can be embedded anywhere on the web.

Then, you can chat with friends in rooms you design, create your own virtual space, chat and interact with friends in rooms you design, express yourself, customize your avatar and stream personal photos and video, add your room to your site, and invite friends to chat and help decorate.

Now, Google Lively is being shut down, however, it still has a lot of channels, but stability is not exactly the best.

Rooms and avatars will not be available after December 31st, 2008.
